LEFT(<expC> | <memofield>, <expN>)

Description
The LEFT() function extracts a substring from the left of the character expression <expC> or memo <memofield> of width <expN> characters wide. The LEFT() function can be used on character fields in index expressions to extract part of the field in the index key.
